Students who perform well in a particular subject may choose to become a peer tutor in that area, if their professor recommends them. Peer tutors may work in the Center, or are available on an on-call basis, at no charge to students who utilize their services. Prospective peer tutors may also enroll in AE 2000, Peer Teaching in the Disciplines, which will provide them with a conceptual framework and practical experience to be effective tutors and mentors. Peer tutors are paid by the College.

For some academic courses, additional instruction is helpful for students. In these cases, AE professional or peer tutors conduct supplemental instruction(non-credit workshops) that are designed to help students to succeed in specific classes. In addition, more general workshops in time management and study skills are provided each semester.

The AEC is committed to supporting Curry's student athletes. First year student athletes, regardless of season or sport, are expected to attend 3 hours of Athletic Study Halls each week during their first semester. Those students who earn a GPA above a 2.5 after their first term are no longer required to attend the study hall. Any student athlete whose GPA falls below 2.5 is obligated to again attend the study halls. AE faculty and staff work in collaboration with coaches to provide workshops that are helpful to the athletes, such as time management workshops, and mid-term and final exam strategy sessions.

Study halls are also offered to all students and provide a quiet, distraction-free environment for study.They are held in the Hafer Academic Building two evenings a week for three hours apiece. First-year students who have been placed on probation are required to attend these weekly study halls and to participate in focused academic workshops. These study halls are monitored by an AEC professional who is available to help students with their academic assignments.
