Dr. Si Pearman joined the Curry faculty as the First-Year Coordinator after serving as a Professor of Health Sciences and Chair of the First Year Seminar Oversight Committee at Furman University in Greenville, SC.  Dr. Pearman was a faculty member at Furman for 25 years, and he also served a six year appointment as Assistant Academic Dean, a position that involved extensive responsibility for first year students.  He is very passionate about first year seminars and taught a course on the ancient and modern Olympics at Furman. A graduate of Furman, Dr. Pearman also holds a Master's degree from the University of North Carolina and a doctorate of public health degree from the University of South Carolina  He has received several awards for meritorious teaching and advising. Dr. Pearman has published over a dozen research articles in public health and exercise science journals and has made numerous professional presentations.
